Summer 2018:

VOCALISE YOUR VALUES
with All Change – Do you want to have your say through music and poetry – and create your own music that has the power to politicise? If you do – or want to learn how to – join professional singer/songwriter Fran Lobo and music producer Tony Nwachukwu for this 3-day project – develop your singing, writing and music production skills. Create and perform your own original material and have your voice heard.
When: 11am-5pm – Tue 24, Wed 25 & Thu 26 July 2018

BE A MOVER AND SHAKER
with Candoco Dance Company – Can your moves ignite change? Would you like to explore contemporary issues through contemporary dance? If so, join us for a week-long inclusive project for young women, led by Sarah Blanc and Tanja Erhart. Learn new skills and produce an original performance about issues that matter to you. No dance experience needed.
When: 11am-5pm – Mon 6, Tue 7, Wed 8, Thu 9 & Fri 10 August 2018

WORK, PLAY, SURVIVE
with Furtherfield – Has the increasing role of social media in our working and personal lives caused us to change our lives offline? Explore the blurred lines between our private and public worlds, of where work and play meet – in this arts and technology project. This three-day workshop with Charlotte Frost will invite you to make a work for social media that explores how we navigate the risks and opportunities this emerging world offers.

CHANGE THE CONVERSATION
with Autograph ABP – do you want to change the way young women are seen in the world? Do you want to challenge stereotypes and create your own empowering images?
Join our photography project led Aida Silvestri, an inspiring female artist
who will guide you through creative workshops to help you make powerful and political images.
When: 11am – 4pm – Wed 15, Thu 16 & Fri 17 August 2018

ACTIVATE YOUR ACT
with Park Theatre – Would you like to perform a protest or write a progressive play? Does your local area inspire the activist in you? Join us for a weeklong acting and theatre making workshop focused on local issues and your opinions on them. Be part of an ensemble with an opportunity to share your work with a public audience.
When: 1.30-4.30pm – Mon 20, Tue 21, Wed 22, Thu 23 & Fri 24 August 2018

    Are the B writing courses going to continue after may/the word 2012 festival?

      Hi Bella! The B writing sessions at Freeword Centre have now finished but we’ll be announcing new opportunities soon to get involved in writing and creating your own work. B Dance is carrying on at Lift on White Lion Street until Friday 20th July so come along on a Friday at 5.30pm and get involved!
